We had the good fortune of connecting with Shannon Hammond and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shannon, what makes you happy? Why?
People make me happy!
I love supporting our community members and cheering them on! Whether it is a new local business opening, or a nonprofit event, or an accomplishment of a friend. Celebrating people brings me joy!
What should our readers know about your business?
We are co-owners of a small local business in The Rail District in old Frisco. The Game Show Experience is a fully immersive experience where you and your team are the next contestants in our live interactive game show! Our 3 private studios can serve from 6-16 contestants in one game show!
What sets us apart is that we are locally owned and operated. We love to say YES. We are customer centric. We exist to BRING THE FUN! We realize that there are many big box, corporately owned entertainment options in the DFW area, however, we have found that our community LOVES supporting small and local. People are looking for opportunities to support local businesses. It is our honor and passion to provide our community with a FIVE STAR entertainment experience.
Being small and local means you develop everything from scratch. We relied on local community partners that knew more than we did about so many elements- from how to hire improv professionals, to how to create contestant stands, lighting, audio and visual platforms, software, and content. We were able to launch because we tapped into our community. And now we are able to thrive because of the incredible support of our local community.
The main lesson we have learned through small business is that we are BETTER TOGETHER. When we value each other, support one another, reciprocate, take care of one another and don’t care who gets the credit- we are better.
If there was one thing we want people to know about The Game Show Experience- it’s that we do this for YOU. We do this as your answer to family outings, corporate team building, and birthdays. We do it for YOU and YOUR teams to be able to have a FIVE STAR EXPERIENCE and leave feeling like you received more than you were expecting! I love that The Game Show Experience brings together our community- where people can put down their phones, work together, compete, belly laugh, and come out with great memories! This brings us JOY!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my bestie was coming into town, I would bring them to where it all started -The historic Rail District in Frisco. There are boutiques, restaurants, bars, and coffee shops. I would make sure to introduce my friend to the owners who are always at their businesses thanking their customers and learning about what brings them to Frisco. We would swing by The Star for the experience of seeing that big screen and maybe try to whip up a couple cartwheels out there. We would end up in our cul-de-sac in The Trails of West Frisco, sit out there with our fire pit and neighbors in lawn chairs (and one in his recliner that he put on wheels). We would chat and laugh and toast to good times. As you can see, meeting the great people of Frisco is what we would center our visit around. The PEOPLE are the fabric of this great place. This is how I know my bestie would have a great time.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to shout out the great people of Frisco, the volunteers, community leaders, business owners, educators, and neighbors. YOU are the reason why my heart bursts with joy! I love to watch all of us cheer each other on. I love to see the GOOD STUFF happening all around us. Frisco makes me happy:)
